Electrician in Liberty, MO

A historic square and new streets around it.

Liberty has two kinds of houses: the older homes near the historic square and William Jewell College, and the subdivisions that have grown out around them. Each needs different electrical work.

Near the square

Liberty’s older neighborhoods have homes from the late 1800s through the mid-1900s. They are worth keeping, and they usually carry a century of wiring changes. Before insulating, remodeling or adding air conditioning, have the old circuits evaluated and replace what needs replacing.

Newer subdivisions

In Liberty’s newer neighborhoods the wiring is sound, and the work is about adding: finished basements, kitchen updates, recessed lighting, a dedicated circuit for a home gym or office, and EV chargers in the garage.

Whatever the age of the house, it starts with the same question: what can the panel carry, and what will it need to carry next?

Liberty questions

Asked in Liberty.

Short answers to the questions we hear from Liberty homeowners and businesses. More in the full Q&A.

What does wiring a finished basement involve?

Usually new branch circuits with AFCI protection, GFCI where required, lighting, smoke alarms tied into the house system, and sometimes a subpanel. It is permitted work, and the wiring is inspected before the drywall goes up.

Can my garage handle a Level 2 EV charger?

Most homes can, but it depends on panel space and service capacity. A load calculation tells you whether you need only a new 240-volt circuit or something more.

Should I rewire my older home all at once?

Not necessarily. Many older homes are rewired in stages, starting with the kitchen, baths and anything showing heat damage, often timed with other remodeling.
